Fabrizio Romano: West Ham complete first part of paperwork to seal Nayef Aguerd signing

West Ham have reportedly completed the first part of the paperwork in order to sign Rennes defender Nayef Aguerd this summer.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Hammers have a deal in place to secure the £30million signing of the Moroccan defender.

Despite some late twists, the North London club are set to announce the 26-year-old as their first signing on Monday.

Via his personal Twitter account, the Sky Sports Italy journalist wrote, “First part of paperworks has been completed between West Ham and Rennes for Nayef Aguerd. Medical tests yesterday in London – £30m deal in place.

“West Ham, smart in the negotiations after some twists. Deal now set to be announced on Monday.”

Excitement building

Last season, the Hammers faced tremendous issues at the heart of their defence and it even cost them a top-six berth.

While Craig Dawson stepped in for Angelo Ogbonna and did a good job, the team seldom defended as a group and conceded a number of needless goals.

Aguerd’s arrival will see Kurt Zouma finally given a quality partner in defence and the two are set to be the club’s first-choice options.

David Moyes will certainly love how they complement each other and we cannot wait to see the two in action next season.

The transfer fee may be a tad steep, but Rennes knew that the Hammers have been tracking him for a while and were unlikely to budge.

In other West Ham news, ExWHUemployee claims that the Hammers are confident of beating Manchester City to sign an attacking sensation this summer.
