Fabrizio Romano: No progress in West Ham United deal for Arnaut Danjuma

West Ham are not close to signing a deal for Villarreal winger Arnaut Danjuma, as per Fabrizio Romano.

The Guardian journalist wrote on his personal Twitter account on 3 July that talks for Danjuma have been stopped because of personal terms.

The Mirror reported on 3 July that the Hammers are “closing” in on a deal for Danjuma, but Romano suggests that there is “no argument”, and that the player is “not close to leaving now”.

Romano wrote on Twitter: “No progress or changes or Arnaut Danjuma deal. West Ham wanted him and were in advanced talks with Villarreal days ago, then negotiations off because of personal terms.

“No agreement, still same situation. Villarreal want Sadiq but Danjuma is not close to leaving now.”

Move on

The Mirror reported that West Ham are expected to pay around £38.5million for Danjuma.

The Dutch forward has a buyout clause of £43m, but the Irons are looking to sign him at a reduced price.

Danjuma impressed heavily last season (2021-22) where he scored 10 goals and provided three assists in the La Liga season.

West Ham

Signing a striker is a priority, but the Hammers need to bolster their attacking midfield positions as well.

It feels like Moyes is not entirely convinced to dish out a hefty transfer fee on Danjuma, where they are better and cheaper options available in the market.

The Hammers should move on from this deal and look for options elsewhere.

They have signed two players already this summer and Moyes will be looking to add a few more as well.

Adding a new left-back is also a priority for the Hammers, while one or two new central midfielders are needed.
