ExWHUemployee: West Ham United to announce Nayef Aguerd signing by Monday

ExWHUemployee claims that West Ham will not announce the signing of Rennes defender Nayef Aguerd until the next week.

The Moroccan took to Twitter to confirm that he will be leaving the French club this summer and while he did not mention the Hammers, he is expected to sign for them in the coming days.

This led to many assuming that the deal will be announced on Saturday [18 June], but Ex sees it happening on the 20th.

He said via Twitter, “Seen the statement now from Aguerd, thank you. Confirms the news we broke yesterday but I think the press release from the club will remain scheduled for Monday.”

Great news

Until a few days back, there were major doubts about the Hammers getting this deal over the line.

Despite tracking him from last summer and closing in on his services over the past few weeks, Newcastle emerged with an eleventh-hour interest in his services.

However, it seems like, despite their rich pockets, the 26-year-old is on his way to the capital to join forces with David Moyes.

He has confirmed his exit via Twitter and has already undergone parts of his West Ham medical.

An official announcement is believed to be the next major development and the Hammers social media will keep their fans waiting until Monday for it.

That said, there now appear to be no more doubts of this deal going over the line, making him the club’s first signing of the summer.
