ExWHUemployee shares West Ham update on London Stadium naming rights

ExWHUemployee does not see West Ham pursuing a move that would have the stadium named after a sponsor after LLDC’s recent announcement.

They said that they would open to an agreement with the Hammers over the stadium’s naming rights.

While Ex admits it will gain the club some income, he hopes that the name does not change based on who the sponsor is with their name being the leading one.

West Ham United

He told the West Ham Way, “I think it would be a really good move for the club because hopefully, the new naming rights will be able to generate us more income.

“That said I do actually quite like the name ‘The London Stadium” now. I hope whatever the new name is though it has relevance to our history or identity rather than just being the name of the sponsor for example “The Umbro Stadium” isn’t for me.

“However, I do not believe the club will actually pursue this from what I understand.”

Get it done

West Ham are certainly a blockbuster name in English football and their stadium deal will be a huge one for the club.

The fact that they’re based in London and have established themselves as a Premier League club that plays in Europe as well, will only add more value to their brand.

It would also give the chance for West Ham to monetise it for other non-football-related activities once the owners take full control of the stadium even though they’ve previously been unhappy with LLDC.

We agree with Ex there as throwing in the sponsor’s name does take away from what a stadium should ideally be and it becomes more of a commercial hub.

The London Stadium is first and foremost a football arena and nothing should change that fact.

We’re certain that once Daniel Kretinsky does take over the club completely, before taking such harsh steps, he would have fans or someone who understands the fans perfectly to voice their input.
