ExWHUemployee: Masuaku expected to miss rest of the season after surgery

West Ham defender Arthur Masuaku is expected to be out for the rest of the season as he is struggling to recover from an operation, according to ExWHUemployee.

Masuaku last played against Leicester in early April before a recurring knee injury sidelined the left-back and forced him to have surgery.

But according to exWHUemployee the 28-year-old is having trouble recovering from the operation so is unlikely to feature in the remaining three games.

He said, “He [Masuaku] is likely to be out for the rest of the season now. His knee hasn’t recovered well from the operation he had and fluid had to be drained from it.”

Lack of depth

Masuaku may not be our first-choice left-back but it is a little worrying that his season is over, as Aaron Cresswell has experienced injury issues in recent weeks too.

We had to rely on Ben Johnson in a big match against Newcastle, and our defeat at St. James’ Park has greatly hindered our chances of making top four.

If we are to progress next season we will need greater strength in depth – we cannot continue relying on inexperienced youngsters to cover for injuries.

West Ham

David Moyes should consider signing a left-back or at least a centre-back who can fill in at full-back when required.

There has been talk of Masuaku departing in the summer too, with the Hammers reportedly willing to listen to offers for him, according to Claret and Hugh.

It would be sad if he does leave without saying goodbye, as ‘The King’ is adored by some sections of our fanbase.

We wish him well in his recovery and hope he dons the claret and blue again soon. If not, he may have already played his last game for the club.
