Edin Terzic stance on West Ham United switch shared amid Julen Lopetegui sack update

Edin Terzic would be open to becoming West Ham United’s new manager, according to Sami Mokbel.

The Daily Mail journalist reported on Thursday (7 November) that the former Borussia Dortmund boss has support at the London Stadium and would be open to replacing Julen Lopetegui as Hammers manager.

Appointing Terzic would not require the Irons to pay any compensation after he left Dortmund at the end of last season having guided the German giants to the Champions League final.

Reports have suggested that Lopetegui is on the brink of being sacked in East London [Fabrizio Romano, 3 November] ahead of the Hammers’ Premier League showdown with Everton on Saturday (9 November).

Will Julen Lopetegui exit West Ham amid London Stadium sack speculation?

Nobody would have wanted this appointment to have gone this way.

Lopetegui’s arrival at the London Stadium was supposed to signal a new era for the Hammers after a successful period under David Moyes, but so far it has been nothing short of a complete mess.

After a summer transfer window that left supporters and pundits alike tipping the Irons for big things, this West Ham side have looked off of the pace, uninspired and all over the place in the opening months of the Premier League season.

While there is still time for Lopetegui to turn things around and a win over Everton at the weekend would ease a lot of the pressure on his shoulders, it feels almost inevitable that he will not last too much longer.

Whether or not Terzic would be the right man to replace the former Real Madrid manager is up for debate. Yes, his Dortmund side impressed in Europe last season, but they weren’t great in the Bundesliga.

It will be interesting to see if and when the Hammers finally decide to pull the trigger at the London Stadium.
