Darren Bent: West Ham must prioritise Europa League to try and win it

Darren Bent has made the huge prediction that West Ham United should go all out to try and win the Europa League.

The Irons got their European journey off to a flyer last night, beating Dinamo Zagreb 2-0 in Croatia.

Bent believes that David Moyes should put that before the Premier League, going all out to lift the silverware upon their return to the competition.

Speaking on talkSPORT late last night, Bent made the huge prediction for the Irons to go all out in the competition.

“For a club size like West Ham who are quite thin as I said squad wise,” he said. “I would probably prioritise the Europa.

“They had a really good season last season in the Premier League, they were fantastic. They’re not going to get in the top four.

“But, Europa, there are some big teams in the Europa League this season. For me, as long as it doesn’t compromise their league form too much, I would probably go all out to try and win it.”

West Ham

Bold.

Moyes made it very clear with his selection last night that he wouldn’t be ringing the changes just because this competition adds more fixtures.

Our very best side including a couple of rests was out in Croatia, and we made a very hard trip on paper look quite easy.

There may be some very big names in the competition, and with third-placed Champions League teams dropping in after this stage, it could get even harder.

That is why finishing top of your group is vitally important, we saw that help clubs such as Rangers dramatically last season.

Should the draw favour us after that, who knows how far we can go but we would never bet against Moyes and the Irons going all the way – bring it on.
