Confirmed League Cup West Ham starting XI v Manchester United
West Ham play Manchester United in the third round of the League Cup on Wednesday night, and David Moyes has named his starting XI.
The Hammers lost 2-1 to the Red Devils during weekend’s Premier League clash, and they will be looking to revenge at Old Trafford tonight.
While a lot of changes have been made to the team, the Hammers have managed to pick a solid line-up capable of causing an upset against Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side, with France international goalkeeper Alphonse Areola, 28, and Alex Kral, 23, making their debuts for the club.
West Ham shared their confirmed starting line-up for the clash through their official Twitter account.
Strong XI
Michail Antonio was hugely missed at the weekend, and West Ham would have fancied their chances had he not been unavailable for the game through suspension.
With four league goals and three assists to his name already, the Jamaican international, 31, would have been looking to continue from where he stopped, and been hungry to prove himself against Man Utd, but that will not be happening.
Areola wants to seize his chance having not played for the club since joining on loan from Paris Saint-Germain, and Moyes has handed him an opportunity tonight.
The former Fulham star is too good to be on the bench, but the form of Lukasz Fabianski has prevented him from getting a look in, and that has changed tonight.
The former Poland international has been on his toes since the Frenchman arrived, and the fierce competition has made him better and more consistent.
The Hammers will be going for a victory tonight, and they have enough squad depth and have named players capable of getting the job done against a tough opponent.
