Clinton Morrison destroys West Ham ace Pablo Fornals

Clinton Morrison has destroyed West Ham forward Pablo Fornals for the part he played in Eintracht Frankfurt’s opening goal.

The Spaniard allowed Ansgar Knauf to run freely towards the back post and slot the ball home inside the first minute of the semi-final clash.

Morrison was left in awe of the Bundesliga outfit’s play but insisted the Irons ace should have done better.

He told BBC Sport: “It’s a great header but Pablo Fornals has to do better – he doesn’t even open up his body. He doesn’t even look at Ansgar Knauf who is making a great run, he’s just watching the ball.

“The ball from Rafael Borre is outstanding and the header is excellent but Fornals has to defend better there.”

Nervy.

It was an absolute nightmare of a start but it weirdly helped West Ham going 1-0 down so early.

Frankfurt then looked content to sit in their shape and look to hit the Hammers on the break which allowed David Moyes’ side to control the game and go on to get the equaliser.

It was a huge goal for Michail Antonio who has been without one for so, so long now. Hopefully, that will give the striker confidence to go on and get many more in the few games that are left this season.

Moyes would have been disappointed to have conceded the second early into the second half.

It is not all doom and gloom after the 2-1 loss. The Hammers have comeback from a losing position before in the knockout stage and they will have to do it again next week.

Despite the result, the performance should give them confidence that they can overturn the deficit.
