Chris Sutton praises Moyes as West Ham dump Man Utd out of League Cup
Manchester United lost to West Ham at Old Trafford for the first time since 2007 last night in the League Cup, with the visitors sealing a 1-0 win.
Manuel Lanzini bagged the opener nine minutes into the game, and it was enough to send the Hammers into the fourth round where they will now face Manchester City.
Wednesday’s win was David Moyes’ first victory over the Red Devils since they sacked him in 2014, and Chris Sutton was pleased with the result, taking to his personal Twitter account to react after the game.
He said: “So much to admire about David Moyes.”
Top manager
Moyes and his men deserved the victory after last weekend’s narrow loss at the London Stadium, and while another tough challenge awaits, anything can happen in the next round.
The Hammers made 10 changes to their starting XI from Sunday, but the quality in depth showed as everyone on the pitch put in a top shift.
Moyes has managed to build a top squad on a tight budget, and he has completely turned his managerial career around.
The Red Devils never gave him a chance and enough time after he succeeded Sir Alex Ferguson, and spells at Real Sociedad and Sunderland did not go as planned.
He has since led the Irons to safety twice and guided them to Europe, and a cup run could be on the cards.
West Ham have one of the best managers around, and the fans know they are lucky to have such a brilliant tactician.
