Chelsea 2-1 West Ham: Ally McCoist completely agrees with Stamford Bridge claim
Ally McCoist agreed with a West Ham United supporter’s “soulless” claim about Stamford Bridge after the 2-1 loss to Chelsea.
The Hammers took the lead in West London on Monday evening (3 February) courtesy of Jarrod Bowen, but Graham Potter will be rightfully incensed after Levi Colwill fouled the captain in the build-up to Pedro Neto’s equaliser.
The Premier League also posted via their Match Centre on X [3 February] to clear up another potential infringement in the goal, as Marc Guiu looked offside. Nevertheless, an Aaron Wan-Bissaka own goal completed the turnaround on the night.
McCoist took a fan’s call live on talkSPORT (4 February, 9:00am) as he berated the “soulless” celebrations at Stamford Bridge following the eventual match-winner, and the pundit was inclined to agree.
He said: “I don’t disagree with you, mate.
“I’m lucky enough to go to a lot of the games and do the commentary, and you can pick on one hand some of the stadiums where you know you’re guaranteed you’re going to get a brilliant atmosphere. I’m with you.”
West Ham did not deserve to lose v Chelsea
There is no doubt Potter has had an immediate impact on this West Ham side since his arrival, but the results must soon follow.
The 3-2 win against Fulham on 14 January is the boss’ only three points since taking the reigns in East London, with one draw and another three losses on his record.
Although the Hammers faithful will recognise the positive signs, the anxious atmosphere surrounding the London Stadium will linger while the precarious 10-point gap to the relegation zone remains.
However, Potter will hope that the Deadline Day arrival of loan signing Evan Ferguson, paired with the return of James Ward-Prowse, will transform his side.

With Bowen back in the starting lineup and amongst the goals, the captain can now return to his preferred position on the flanks and allow the 20-year-old Ferguson to lead the line.
Meanwhile, the London Stadium must be bouncing during each home game between now and the end of the season to truly get behind the team during this difficult spell – the difference between a top-half push and a relegation battle could depend on it.
