Aston Villa look set to beat West Ham United to sign Wolves midfielder Leander Dendoncker
Aston Villa are in talks to sign Wolves midfielder Leander Dendoncker who is also wanted by West Ham United, as per The Telegraph.
The newspaper reported on their transfer live blog (1 September; 9:34 am) that Villa are winning the race for the signature of the 27-year-old midfielder.
Dharmesh Sheth of Sky Sports reported earlier today that the Hammers have set sight on Dendoncker as they are looking to add a central midfielder to their ranks.

Late challenge?
West Ham are looking to bolster their midfield areas and Dendoncker would be a terrific addition to the club.
The price quoted for him is well within the Hammers’ budget, and Moyes must fight with Villa to secure his signature.
Dendoncker initially joined Wolves on loan in 2018, and later made the move permanent. He has made over 155 appearances for the club in all competitions.
The Hammers have bolstered their midfield this summer by signing Flynn Downes and Lucas Paqueta, but they still need more depth in that area.

It has been reported that Villa want to sign Dendoncker regardless of whether Douglas Luiz departs on deadline day. It means West Ham will have to come up with a better bid to lure him away from the club.
The Hammers have made eight signings already this summer, but they are expected to make one more addition before the close of the window.
Southampton defender Jan Bednarek has been linked with a move, and he is most likely to join before the 11pm deadline on Thursday.
