Angelo Ogbonna close to signing new West Ham deal
West Ham defender Angelo Ogbonna is close to penning an extension at the club, according to Italian media outlet Calciomercato.
With his contract expiring at the end of the season, there was a chance that he would leave the London Stadium.
Until a few weeks ago, Claret and Hugh reported that the club were still deciding whether or not he merited a contract, but it now seems that they have made the choice and he’s close to signing the dotted line.

Good move
Despite being 33, Ogbonna is still a first-team regular under David Moyes, who has labelled him “magnificent”, and the Scotsman would like to keep him for another season.
There’s no denying that the Hammers will need to find a long-term partner for Kurt Zouma, but if Ogbonna can continue for another year, then those funds could be invested elsewhere.
The Italian has proven that age is only a number as he keeps putting in quality performances week in and week out.
We’re hoping that the injury he sustained against Liverpool will not be too serious as he’s a reliable player in this team.

Issa Diop and Craig Dawson are decent stand-ins but none are quite as good as Ogbonna.
He’s a model professional and keeps working harder to get better despite being in his mid-30s.
