Agent issues update on West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur interest in striker Armand Lauriente
Armand Lauriente’s agent Roberto Meloni has confirmed that West Ham made an approach for the Tottenham Hotspur target.
In an interview with Tutto Mercato Web on Tuesday, 26 September, Meloni revealed that while Spurs were merely interested in the Sassuolo striker, the Hammers actually made contact over his potential transfer.
However, the 24-year-old Frenchman snubbed the chance to move to the London Stadium and continued in the Serie A.

Meloni said, “Then there was an interest from Tottenham and it’s no mystery that Giuntoli would like him if he had stayed in Naples.
“In the Premier League, there was an attempt from West Ham, but he wants to reach an important level, preferring a second season in Sassuolo to confirm himself.
“With Dionisi he is developing well, he is in an excellent position.”
Needed a striker
The Hammers addressed the other main areas this summer but one thing they did not is a new striker and that may come back to haunt them.
Michail Antonio has started all games this season but the past is an indicator that he may not always be reliable.
His fitness record isn’t the best and there are chances of him going on lengthy runs without finding the back of the net.

While Mohammed Kudus can lead the line, thus far, we’ve seen no indication from David Moyes that he wants to go down that route.
Lauriente would be decent competition to Antonio and if he’s good enough, would be starting over the Jamaican.
It remains to be seen how things transpire from now until January and whether or not the Hammers look to bring in another striker.
In other West Ham news, a Hammers star has the same conversation with a manager as James Maddison did before he joined Tottenham Hotspur.
