AC Milan, Flamengo due windfall as West Ham closing in on signing of Lucas Paqueta – Fabrizio Romano

West Ham are closing in on the signing of Lyon midfielder Lucas Paqueta, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

It was reported on Friday that both clubs agreed to a fee for the transfer of the Brazil international this summer.

As per Romano, the player is expected to arrive in London today to undergo a medical ahead of his move to the Premier League on a five-year deal.

He also stated that two clubs — AC Milan and Flamengo — will also receive some part of the fee once Paqueta joins the Hammers.

Big signing

West Ham entered the transfer window hoping to sign players who can bolster the squad that finished seventh in the Premier League last season and also played in the semi-final of the UEFA Europa League.

Even though the club have made numerous signings in this transfer window that can be termed as an upgrade to whatever they had in the previous campaign such as Gianluca Scamacca, but the arrival of Paqueta is likely to be the biggest of them all.

West Ham

The Brazil international has become one of the most highly-rated attacking midfielders in Europe ever since moving to France from AC Milan.

What makes him special is his ability to play in more than one attacking position which will make him an ideal fit for the club.

If the deal materialises, the 25-year-old will join the club after scoring 21 times and providing 14 assists for Lyon in just 80 matches across all competitions [Transfermarkt].
