Jim Beglin waxes lyrical of Said Benrahma v Newcastle
West Ham attacker Said Benrahma was praised by Jim Beglin, who was on co-commentary for the Newcastle game on Sunday.
The Algerian started the match in the number 10 position, but kept drifting out to the left of the attack, giving the likes of Jacob Murphy and Emil Krafth a run for their money.
He also got a goal for his rewards and was one of West Ham’s main attacking threats.

In the 16th minute, he threatened the Newcastle defence and left Murphy chasing shadows. Unfortunately for the Hammers, it did not result in them scoring their first of the game.
Describing that passage of play on commentary for Premier League Productions (15/08/21, 2:16pm), the BT Sport pundit said: “Benrahma did very well to take on Murphy. It was lovely footwork. He’s looked really sharp today and is putting his quick feet to good use.”
Finally proving himself
It was disappointing to see some West Ham fans write Benrahma off after a relatively slow first season at the London Stadium, but he had a great game at St. James’ Park.
The Algerian played with his head up looking for the killer pass to break open Newcastle’s low block.
When there weren’t any passing opportunities, he looked to carry the ball himself and get himself into the right positions and deservedly got his name on the scoresheet.

Hopefully, he comes out in the same vein of form for our next few games as well as desperately need to pick up as many wins in the early stages of the campaign as it will help build a solid foundation for the coming months.
Benrahma was one of our players to look out for this season and he’s delivered from day one.
