Dermot Gallagher: Konsa deserved red in West Ham v Aston Villa
West Ham enjoyed a comfortable 4-1 victory against Aston Villa at Villa Park on Sunday with Ezri Konsa picking up a red card.
With that win, they finished the gameweek in fourth place on the Premier League table.
David Moyes saw four different goal scorers with Ben Johnson, Declan Rice, Jarrod Bowen and Pablo Fornals all finding the back of the net.

However, the scoreline may not have been as straightforward had Villa centre-back Ezri Konsa not been sent off.
Discussing that decision in Premier League Productions post-match show, former Premier League referee Dermot Gallaher said, “The law says will he have an opportunity to score. I say yes. So it was a red card.”
Stonewall red
Bowen was running onto goal and would’ve had a shot on target had he not been impeded.
Konsa realised that he was in the wrong place at the wrong time and hoped that he would make slight contact to unnerve the player.
However, as Gallagher said it was the right decision and despite VAR checking it, they ruled in the Hammers’ favour.

Talks about a different game without the red card must be thrown out of the way as it was a justified sending off.
Had Villa been ‘robbed’, a different argument could’ve been made but that was certainly not the case.
Three crucial points for Moyes’ side on the road and they’ve started this season just as well as they ended in May.
