West Ham star El Hadji Malick Diouf has been constantly linked with an exit this summer.

Manchester United and Everton have reportedly been keeping tabs on the 21-year-old ahead of potential swoops.

Hammers chiefs may have feared that they would not be able to keep hold of the Senegal star.

However, they may now have been relaxed after watching his display in the 0-0 draw with Saudi Arabia on 10 June.

The Irons man did not impress in the World Cup warm-up contest, and may well have put suitors off with his performers.

Those with a London Stadium persuation will hope that is the case as he proved to be a brilliant player despite the club's relegation.

How did West Ham star El Hadji Malick Diouf perform vs Saudi Arabia?

Diouf started and played 45 minutes as the Lions of Teranga drew their final warm up game for the World Cup.

The Hammers ace completed 86 per cent of his pass attempts, and created one chance for his teammates, per Fotmob data.

He had three touches in the opposition box, but failed to complete a single cross from his three attempts.

It was a dismal attacking display as he completed just one of his three long ball attempts.

Defensively, he had a quiet display as he made just one clearance and one recovery, and committed three fouls.

In terms of duels, he won two of seven on the ground for a 29 per cent success rate, and one of two in the air.

Why West Ham will want Diouf to continue poor performances

Diouf may have been hoping to enhance his transfer chances with his perfomances on the international level.

He will still have opportunities to impress, against France, Norway and Iraq at the World Cup.

If he continues to perform the way he did against the Green Falcons, then teams will surely think twice, as he was very poor when attacking and defending.

Supporters in E20 and the heirarchy will hope that he does just that, as it will help their hopes of keeping him around for the Championship campaign.

They need as many top players as possible to help try to secure an immediate return to the Premier League, and Diouf will probably be immense in the second tier.
