Joshua Zirkzee is said to be eyeing an exit from Old Trafford, just months after he was linked with West Ham United.

The Hammers made their intentions to sign a new striker clear in the winter, and with the arrival of Taty Castellanos and Pablo, they succeeded in their attempts.

However, another forward signing will be on the agenda this summer, especially if West Ham can avoid relegation, and a move for Zirkzee could be on the cards.

Zirkzee was linked with West Ham throughout the winter window, and he is now said to be looking at a future away from Old Trafford.

Joshua Zirkzee transfer could be on the cards for West Ham

West Ham were one of several clubs interested in Zirkzee in January, but the Dutchman remained at Man United, where he has since failed to score a single goal, which has also resulted in his recent omission from the Netherlands squad, where he has made six senior appearances.

Admittedly, his gametime has been severely restricted with just seven appearances since the turn of the year in all competitions, and only two of them have been games in which he has played for more than 20 minutes.

A report from The Sun states that the striker is now looking to seal a move away from the Red Devils this summer as a result, and it could be the perfect chance for the Irons to pounce.

While Zirkzee's goal record this season isn't anything to shout home about, he has several attributes which would be of use to West Ham, including his ability to hold the ball up.

Joshua Zirkzee stats

The 24-year-old has won 42 per cent of his duels this season, which is almost 11 per cent more than that of Castellanos, who has been leading the line.

Would Zirkzee be a smart move for West Ham?

If you look past his struggles at Man United, which, admittedly, is hard, then the answer to that is yes.

The Dutchman has plenty to offer to a side like West Ham, who are in desperate need of some added physicality and flair in their forward line.

But as always with these situations, it would depend on the fee demanded by Man United as to whether it would be a deal worth pursuing.

The Hammers will not want to overpay for a striker who has struggled in the Premier League, meaning it would have to be a reasonable financial commitment.
