West Ham United were held 1-1 on their return to action against Queens Park Rangers on Friday.

The Hammers were hoping to get back to winning ways as Championship action returned after the international break.

Having drew 2-2 with Millwall last time out, a better performance was needed.

It's fair to say that the London Stadium didn't see that as the R's took a 1-0 lead in controversial fashion as a penalty was wrongly awarded against Tomas Soucek before Nicolas Madsen scored from the spot.

Jarrod Bowen went on to bag an equaliser before blowing a chance to seal three points from the penalty spot after a stunning double save from Pierce Charles.

That proved to be how the game ended as we now rate each West Ham players' performance out of 10.

Tomas Soucek terrible on West Ham return

It can't be underestimated how much excitement was on show when the Czechia international was named in the starting XI.

He had been absent since picking up an injury at the World Cup.

A long-awaited return came against QPR and the general feeling was that he would be far too good for the Championship.

Instead, he got lost in a very packed out midfield and had very little impact on the game besides 'giving away' the penalty.

That was summed up when he was hooked at half-time and replaced as Edvin Austbo and Pablo entered the field.

Far from an ideal comeback from Soucek, even if the penalty should never have been awarded against him.

Taty Castellanos out on his own vs QPR

The away side were easily able to shut up shop and limit space in attacking areas throughout the clash.

Besides the solo strike from Bowen, there was very little going forward in claret and blue for the majority of the evening.

That saw Taty Castellanos struggle as much as anyone as he was limited to very few touches.

His only shots came from outside the box and caused very few problems for Pierce Charles in between the sticks.

There are higher expectations from the Argentine and he should be hitting the heights in the Championship.

That wasn't seen against QPR whatsoever.
