West Ham midfielder Tomas Soucek may be made redundant by the club in the January transfer window amid his recent form.

According to ExWHUemployee, Lucas Paqueta has been playing too far forward and moving him to a midfield position may be best to see just how good the club-record signing is.

Declan Rice is one of the few untouchables in the side and this could mean that Soucek makes way and will drop to the bench for David Moyes' side.

West Ham United

The Czech Republic international's future is far from certain in this squad and there were chances of him being sold in the summer itself.

It was understood that the Hammers were also planning for life without the 27-year-old as he was facing a contract standoff at the club.

Should Paqueta be the long-term midfield partner to Rice, Soucek may well leave for first-team opportunities and this could open the door for the Irons to make decent money from his sale.

He was in demand in the summer and is still likely to garner decent interest if he's put in the shop window in the January transfer window.

His deal also expires in the summer of 2024 and while West Ham have the option of an additional year, that can only be triggered next season and will still leave two years left on his contract.

It makes a lot of sense to put him on the shop market when he's fit and playing regularly rather than after he becomes a bit-part player.
