West Ham can relax over Crysencio Summerville future even if they're relegated

West Ham United forward Crysencio Summerville appears committed for the long term.

Summerville has been indispensable under Nuno Espirito Santo this season and sorely missed during his injury absence, although he could return against Leeds in the FA Cup.

The 24-year-old has registered nine goal contributions in 2026 and breathed new life into the Hammers' Premier League relegation fight ahead of a make-or-break run-in.

Crucially, he has also helped to ease the burden on Jarrod Bowen, with the duo dovetailing to good effect before Summerville picked up a calf injury in early March.

The ace's impressive form has unsurprisingly attracted attention from a host of elite clubs, but his recent show of commitment to West Ham bodes well for their future.

Crysencio Summerville stance on leaving West Ham

Napoli have been linked with Summerville ahead of a potential summer swoop, but the Dutchman could also have departed during the winter transfer window.

Indeed, according to The Athletic, Tottenham Hotspur made an approach in January.

Spurs are said to have enquired about his availability, only for the winger to inform his representatives that he had "no intention" of walking away from the London Stadium.

But the report also comes with a caveat: specifically, that Summerville will "doubtlessly be of interest to Premier League clubs" should the Hammers be relegated this season.

That may not be the case, with the attacker refreshingly snubbing a headline-grabbing switch to a so-called "Big Six" heavyweight and thereby proving his West Ham loyalty.

In this day and age, players are far too quick to jump ship. Summerville, however, has demonstrated that he is not part of the same herd, which Irons supporters will lap up.

Safe in the knowledge he will likely stick around even if they do drop into the Championship, the hierarchy can instead focus their efforts on tying down his fellow undroppables.

Summerville is under contract in East London until 2029. This means that, regardless of speculation around his future, West Ham are under no pressure to entertain any offers.

In fact, they would be well within their rights to batten down the hatches for at least another campaign, with the forward expected to be integral regardless of which league they are in.

Relegation would put a sizeable dent in the amount they could demand for him, but as long as Summerville is happy to stick around, any offers risk not getting off the ground.
