Three things missed in West Ham vs Southampton - Jarrod Bowen and Max Kilman confusion spotted
West Ham were left reeling over their performance in the 3-2 defeat against Southampton.
It was far from the ideal start, and that meant there was always an uphill battle to fight.
Unfortunately, the Irons were unable to climb that hill, with the Saints coming away with all three points.
While Storm Boelo threatened to interrupt the game, it was the storm of Tonda Eckert's side that ultimately arrived.
Nuno Espirito Santo's men threw away the chance to go top of the Championship ahead of Swansea.
Here are three things you may have missed from the clash at London Stadium.
Jarrod Bowen and Max Kilman share shell-shocked glance
Going two down so early was certainly a surprise for West Ham, and that was made evident in an innocuous moment between Jarrod Bowen and Max Kilman.
After conceding the second of the game, West Ham had little time to breathe with Southampton going straight back at them.
When they finally got a moment to take a quick rest, with the Saints winning a corner in the 13th minute, Bowen and Kilman's interaction showcased exactly how the team was feeling.
The pair shared a simple glance, but confusion and bewilderment were written all over their face.
Konstantinos Mavropanos put off by shirt pull in Southampton box
Konstantinos Mavropanos has been quite effective in the opposition box this season, and it appears Southampton did their homework.
Shortly before the Hammers clawed a goal back, the Greek defender was in the box looking to try to showcase his attacking prowess.
However, as he lurked and tried to pounce on a loose ball, he was slightly held back by a shirt pull from Jack Stephens.
There was very little in it, and truthfully nothing much to claim for in terms of a foul.
But with West Ham moving the ball quickly, and plenty going on inside the box, it was an easily missed moment.
And unfortunately clever from Stephens.
Kyle Walker-Peters tempts fate with a decision at the West Ham corner
With West Ham having a corner, Kyle Walker-Peters was the man who stayed back to defend.
However, while Bowen took the set-piece, the fullback opted that was the moment to tie his loose shoelace.
Luckily, a counterattack did not occur, but it was an odd moment to make that decision.
He could very easily have been caught lacking if the Saints went on the charge from that corner.
That summed up an afternoon to forget for the Hammers.
