West Ham United will feel confident that they can get back to the Premier League after beating high-flying Swansea City on Saturday.

The Hammers emerged 1-0 victors after their win at the Swansea.com Stadium at the weekend, climbing to second place in the Championship.

They became the first team to beat Vitor Matos' side at home in the division this season, and only the second side to beat the Welsh side after Southampton.

Nuno Espirito Santo's men grabbed all three points thanks to Divine Mukasa's strike, but the victory didn't come without some nervy moments.

Ben Cabango came close to levelling the game before the break, though the Irons held their lead despite missing some big chances of their own in the second 45.

West Ham have faced some bumps in the Championship already this season, but are they on course for their ultimate goal?

West Ham are now one point behind Swansea, who sit at the top of the Championship on 23 points after 11 games.

The Hammers' huge plus 18 goal difference looks to already be paying dividends, as they are ahead of Middlesbrough, who are also on 22 points.

According to Opta's supercomputer, West Ham are now the overwhelming favourites to win the Championship, and are expected to finish on 85.46 points.

The Irons have a 38.10 per cent chance of finishing first, while they also have been given a 59.58 per cent chance of gaining promotion.

Boro are currently predicted to finish second with an overall 39.98 per cent chance of promotion, while Swansea' chances of getting to the Premier League have dropped to 22.66 per cent after losing to Nuno's side.

But how much progress have the Hammers made since football returned after the international break?

How West Ham have taken big strides after international break

Wolves and Southampton are currently the other two strongest automatic promotion threats to West Ham, but have a combined 17.2 per cent chance of winning the title between them.

West Ham had a 44.92 per cent chance of promotion after the final gameweek before the international break, so their chances have been boosted by almost 15 per cent, a fairly significant increase after picking up seven points from their last three games.

The Hammers face the Saints next in the Championship, which may prove to be a crucial game when it's all said and done at the end of the campaign.

Nuno's men have already proven that they can pull off results in big games, so they will no doubt have the confidence ahead of the game in E20 on Saturday.
