Niclas Fullkrug continues to hit the headlines in Germany while away from West Ham United.

While the German striker was in the headlines for all the wrong reasons in England, it's the complete opposite in the Bundesliga.

Currently at Werder Bremen on loan, Fullkrug is on absolute fire.

With seven goals in as many appearances in all competitions, he's currently joint-top scorer in the Bundesliga with six.

That's more than the four he managed in 49 appearances combined at West Ham and AC Milan in the two years prior.

So, what's the secret behind this?

What are Werder Bremen doing different with Niclas Fullkrug?

It appears to all stem from special training.

The 33-year-old isn't known for his agility, speed or fitness, but rather his physical strength and finishing, well in Germany he is.

Sport Bild have reported that Fullkrug actually missed Bremen training completely on Tuesday, but that was always the plan.

It's said that he isn't injured, yet being rested from certain sessions.

That comes after coach Daniel Thioune was said to have agreed that Fullkrug can reduce his training intensity whenever needed.

As well as that, he is constantly in contact with the medical department and receiving treatment at all times to help.

He's getting the special treatment, and it's working.

West Ham issue makes this worse

Nuno Espirito Santo will be scratching his head watching Fullkrug score every single week in Germany.

He was useless in England, and that isn't being harsh, it's the truth.

And despite being in the Championship with Joel Piroe, Taty Castellanos and Pablo, Fullkrug has outscored those three combined alone.

With only five goals between them in the Championship, that's an issue that could do with solving.

Thankfully, West Ham are still finding goals from all over and are the Championship's top scorers with 30.

But, imagine just how more it could be if those three strikers were firing, too.

Taking tips from Fullkrug won't be at the top of their lists, though, given they're completely different strikers.

With another year to run on his contract after this season, West Ham will just be happy that his form should lead to a permanent move away.

That would be best for all parties.
