Niclas Fullkrug called 'monster' after inside information on West Ham United loan star
Niclas Fullkrug could go down as West Ham's biggest flop of the last 10 years at London Stadium.
That is a very big claim to make, especially when you consider some of the rubbish that has been signed.
The Irons are somewhat cursed when it comes to signing strikers, and Fullkrug was no different.
From Jordan Hugill all the way to Taty Castellanos, the latter may already be one of the biggest success stories in that regard.
Fullkrug certainly isn't.
So, just why has he exploded into life on loan at Werder Bremen?
Niclas Fullkrug is hero in Germany
Some players are just way too suited to one country, you see it all of the time in football.
Fullkrug is certainly that, and is now in his second stint with his first senior club, Werder Bremen.
In six games this season, he already has five goals, beating what he scored in 18 months at West Ham United.
Fussballeuropa have reported that Bremen want to keep him permanently, as he has become the "undisputed" leader of their dressing room.
Described as a "monster" by teammates like Karl Hein, he is taking the ultimate responsibility.
One sticking point for Niclas Fullkrug exit
Signed for £27million from Borussia Dortmund by Tim Steidten, he was on huge weekly wages.
That Premier League money simply can't be matched by most in the Bundesliga, especially someone like Bremen.
With another year after this season on his contract in east London, another compromise would need to be found to make it happen.
If West Ham and Nuno Espirito Santo are promoted, that is no problem, given the riches that come with being in the Premier League again.
But, if they fail and stay in the Championship, they can't afford to be handing out favours to get rid of players.
If Fullkrug wants to leave permanently next summer, and is desperate for Bremen, then it's him who will need to make sacrifices for that.
With things going so well, you'd imagine that all parties will want to come to a swift resolution should it continue.
