Max Kilman in 'terrible' West Ham moment vs Millwall that Sky pundit couldn't believe

Max Kilman had another poor afternoon for West Ham United against Millwall on Saturday.

In front of a hostile crowd at The Den, the Hammers clearly felt the pressure in the first half on 19 September.

Nuno Espirito Santo's team were two goals down at the break after the hosts used their physicality to score from long throws.

Kilman struggled to contain Millwall's attackers and looked shaky at times.

In the second half, the English centre-back continued to make errors, but Mohamadou Kante and Konstantinos Mavropanos stepped up to ensure a 2-2 draw.

The 29-year-old defender often puts the East London outfit in a difficult position with his actions, and it was no different at The Den.

It was evident Kilman was struggling at The Den after a poor opening 45 minutes.

The defender wasn't much better in the second half and in one particular moment, almost cost the Hammers dearly.

In the 54th minute, Jenson Metcalfe went down in the box after contact with Kate, but Paul Tierney waved the penalty shout.

The midfielder was put into that position by Kilman, whose decision-making on the ball led to the Lions' player finding himself in the area.

Speaking on Sky Sports Football, co-commentator Andy Hinchcliffe said: "The problems for West Ham all stem from Kilman just dropping the ball back into midfield. Terrible.

"Terrible. If that's a clearance; it's not good enough. It's an awful pass towards Kante."

One change Nuno Espirito Santo will stick with at London Stadium

West Ham return to action at the London Stadium on 9 October after the three-week international break.

The Hammers will host Queens Park Rangers at home, and Nuno's changes at the break should have given him an idea of how to set up his team.

Kyle Walker-Peters was taken off for Kante at the break and that changed the dynamic of the game.

The Irons looked better defensively with a back three and the Portuguese manager should look to replicate that.

With the East London outfit clearly lacking quality at full-back, Nuno may need to make some major changes to his plans in E20.
