Lewis Orford didn't make the intended difference when he came on for West Ham United against Charlton Athletic.

The Addicks travelled to the London Stadium on Saturday and pulled off their game plan to perfection.

Nuno Espirito Santo's side were left massively frustrated as they failed to create many clear-cut chances.

The first half was frustrating enough, but was only made worse when Konstantinos Mavropanos made an error that allowed the away side to go 2-0 up.

A change at the interval wasn't enough as Orford came on for Mohamadou Kante.

It's fair to say that the alteration didn't really pay off that could see the midfielder could face a problematic future.

It was a surprise to see the 20-year-old coming onto the pitch after the interval.

A change was needed, but bringing on a youthful face in the middle of the park probably wasn't the right move.

That was proven in his performance as the Englishman failed to truly have the desired impact.

Orford did rack up 55 touches and maintained a 91 per cent pass accuracy, but failed to create a single chance for his teammates.

His only shots either went wide or were blocked, summing up his issues.

The academy product failed to contribute a single defensive action as Charlton went on to make it 2-0 with him on the pitch.

It's fair to say that Orford had a day to forget and it could soon lead to a accustomed move elsewhere.

How Orford could soon face West Ham exit

The claret and blue outfit have already proven this summer that they don't care about loyalty.

There was a feeling before the summer that the likes of Orford, Freddie Potts and George Earthy were going to have a telling impact in East London this season.

That hasn't been possible for the latter two as they have both been sold.

Potts joined Club Brugge for £10million earlier in the summer and Orford has only just joined Reading on a permanent deal.

Orford could face a similar fate in the very near future if he is unable to find a better level of form.

There is hope that he can do exactly that, but there is proof that he could be shipped out if he doesn't do it soon.
