Jamie O'Hara issues apology as Portsmouth catch strays in West Ham rant
Jamie O'Hara has seemingly landed himself in hot water with Portsmouth fans following a rant aimed at West Ham United.
The former Tottenham midfielder, who supports Spurs, regularly takes aim at the Hammers.
O'Hara took delight in West Ham's relegation from the Premier League last season at the expense of Tottenham.
That delight continued into this campaign when the Irons made a slow start, but that has since changed.
However, O'Hara is struggling to share the optimism of West Ham fans who feel their club are potentially better off from being relegated.
That led to one of his former clubs in Portsmouth - among others - catching some strays in his latest rant this week.
What did Jamie O'Hara say in latest West Ham rant?
O'Hara has had less opportunities to take aim at West Ham of late.
However, when it was put to him on talkSPORT that it is better being a West Ham fan than a Tottenham fan right now, he was not having it.
The player-turned-pundit argued being happy about a 'reset' in the second tier is a "small-club mentality".
He went on to say he would take no delight from beating teams such as Lincoln City and Portsmouth.
That comment did not go down well among Pompey fans, with O'Hara seemingly suggesting they are a small club.
In a post on X on Thursday morning, O'Hara moved to clarify what he meant - while taking a fresh pop at West Ham in the process.
"I wanna apologise to my Pompey fans," he posted. "I used their name the other day when giving it to a West Ham fan as they were first name that came to my head in the Championship.
"I love that club and I love the fans - they know this. I hope they batter West Ham and I know how big a club they are. Play up Pompey."
O'Hara spent time on loan at Fratton Park in the 2009-10 campaign, where he was a regular starter.
Is it better to be a West Ham or Tottenham fan right now?
The obvious answer to that question is it depends on who you support.
The bottom line is that West Ham fans are leaving most matches happy right now, while the opposite is true for Tottenham.
That said, being relegated is never nice. The key is bouncing back up instantly and then pushing on.
If that is achieved, which West Ham very much hope is the case, then the reset is not necessarily a bad thing.
Tottenham just seem to be stuck in a rut that they cannot get out of. The longer that continues, the longer they will wonder if going down will just put them out of their misery.
