Ex-Tottenham Hotspur star Erik Lamela has reacted to news that Julen Lopetegui has agreed terms to become the new West Ham United manager.

As per Fabrizio Romano via Instagram (6 May), Lopetegui is set to take over from the departing David Moyes at the London Stadium next season.

Terms have now been agreed between the two parties with the formal signature expected "soon."

And former Spurs forward Lamela appears to be interested in this update having liked Romano's post.

West Ham United set to enter a new era with Julen Lopetegui at the London Stadium

It would appear as if Lamela has given his stamp of approval on Lopetegui's move to the London Stadium.

However, considering the Argentinian's long-term connection with West Ham's fierce rivals Tottenham, Hammers supporters probably have very little interest in what Lamela thinks.

Regardless, Lamela's opinion should still be valued considering the fact that the 32-year-old was signed by Lopetegui and featured under the Spanish manager while with Sevilla.

Double-tapping Romano's post suggests that the right-winger maintains a lot of respect for the incoming West Ham boss and wishes him well, which can only be a positive sign.

Following in the footsteps of Moyes won't be easy for the 57-year-old.

Despite a sour end to his tenure, the Scotsman is arguably the club's most successful boss in the modern era.

As time goes by his stay in East London will certainly be looked back on favourably, and Lopetegui will hope to achieve similar levels of success.
