BBC Radio Wales commentator slams 'unacceptable' moment in West Ham rout of Wrexham

West Ham United continued on an upward trajectory by battering Wrexham on Friday.

The Hammers made it four straight Championship victories with a 6-0 battering of the Welsh outfit at London Stadium.

There were six different goalscorers for Nuno Espirito Santo's men in the emphatic victory.

Jarrod Bowen and Joel Piroe were on target in the first half, while Konstantinos Mavropanos stretched the lead early in the second.

Taty Castellanos, Mahamadou Kante, and Manor Solomon then completed the drubbing as West Ham went top of the table before Saturday's games.

Former Wales striker Iwan Roberts was left fuming with one thing he saw for West Ham's final goal when speaking as an analyst on BBC Radio Wales.

What happened in before Manor Solomon's goal for West Ham?

The Hammers had already long-since made sure of the points by the time Solomon curled into the bottom-right corner in the 82nd minute.

It was Solomon's second goal for the Hammers after he scored on debut against Burnley last month.

However, a lot of the work was done by Kyle Walker-Peters, who marauded forward from right-back for West Ham.

It was Wrexham's inability to prevent Walker-Peters gaining so much ground that really irked Roberts when he analsed the goal.

Speaking on BBC Radio Wales, Roberts said: "You talk about the character Wrexham have, I can't see any in this side tonight.

"Phil Parkinson may as well throw the towel in, because his players have.

"Kyle Walker-Pieters carries the ball 40 or 50 yards and nobody puts a challenge in, that is unacceptable."

West Ham must continue this momentum

West Ham initially made a tough start to life in the second tier since their relegation from the Premier League.

The Hammers failed to win any of their opening three league games, taking just two points from those matches.

But Nuno's men are really clicking into gear, and if it last night were a boxing match it would have been stopped well before the end.

Now, though, it is crucial to carry on this momentum leading into an elongated international break.

West Ham have Tuesday's Carabao Cup tie with Fulham and the huge derby with fierce rivals Millwall to navigate first.

A couple more wins before a three-week break would certainly be welcome.
