Adama Boiro must wait for first West Ham start after what Oliver Scarles has done

Oliver Scarles has shown no signs of relinquishing his West Ham starting berth.

The Hammers brought in Adama Boiro on loan to compete with the academy star for the left-back role.

The fact that the Senegal-born ace has a buyout clause had perhaps tipped the scales in his favour.

However, Nuno Espirito Santo opted to start the Irons fan favourite ober the new signing against Derby County and it worked.

His side ran out 3-0 winners at the London Stadium, with Scarles putting in a fantastic display.

It seems as though Boiro will have to wait and bide his time before he is handed a chance in the team, and it won't come against Bolton Wanderers.

Why Oliver Scarles is the better option for West Ham against Bolton

Scarles performed brilliantly on both sides of the ball against the Rams in his latest Championship appearance.

He completed 33 of his 39 passes for an accuracy of 85 per cent, with 58 total touches, and made three passes into the final third, per Fotmob.

Defensively, he made nine contributions, with three tackles, six clearances and three recoveries.

In terms of duels, Scarles won four of five on the ground, for an 80 per cent success rate, and also the only aerial battle that he contested.

He has featured five times in the second tier so far, with four starts, and looked very comfortable, meaning that he is unlikely to be dropped against the Greater Manchester outfit next time out.

Did Boiro do enough to get in West Ham team?

Boiro did not do enough to change Nuno's plans when he was handed an opportunity off the bench.

He made his debut replacing Scarles in the 77th minute, but the numbers are not encouraging.

The former Athletic Club ace had just 10 touches of the ball, and completed three of four passes, for a 75 per cent accuracy.

He recorded three defensive contributions, with one tackle and two clearances.

When it came to duels, he won the only one that he contested on the ground, for a 100 per cent success rate

Boiro has to do more, if he is to overhaul the Englishman and earn his spot in the team, and make the E20 side give him his full debut.
