Konstantinos Mavropanos gave West Ham United a scare in Greece's 0-0 draw with Germany.

The defender left the pitch in the 79th minute of the UEFA Nations League A group contest on Sunday evening.

Mavropanos has continued his fine Hammers form this season on the international stage.

That was the case again in Thessaloniki as he starred as his nation took a further point from Jurgen Klopp's side.

However, there was an injury concern for Nuno Espirito Santo as his star man went off early.

Mavropanos shared an update when speaking to Greek media after the clash, and it may be all we needed to hear.

What did Konstantinos Mavropanos say about injury issue?

Mavropanos confirmed that the issue was not serious, and that tracks with his reaction to his substitution.

He confronted manager Ivan Jovanovic and asked why he was taken off, per Greek outfit Sport 24.

Speaking in the aftermath of the draw, he said: ”I think there was a misunderstanding, but okay, bygone, forgotten.

“Retsos came in and did a tremendous job too, all the kids playing give their all.

“I was in a little pain, but it’s nothing major. Everything’s fine.”

That will be a relief for Nuno and Irons supporters, but how did Mavropanos play against the Germans?

What do the stats say about Mavropanos' display away from West Ham?

Mavropanos was brilliant against Germany, making the most defensive contributions in the contest with 16, per FotMob data.

He made 14 clearances, one tackle and one block and also managed three recoveries in the contest.

In terms of duels, he won one of two on the ground and three of four in the air, giving him success rates of 50 and 75 per cent.

He completed 83 per cent of his passes, with one of those going into the final third.

The London Stadium star even had two shots as he looked to continue his goalscoring exploits that have seen the E20 side profit many times this season.

Everyone associated with the Hammers will be glad that Mavropanos is not injured.

Nuno described him as a "warrior" in March 2026, and he can't afford to have him sidelined for any period of time.

If the Rush Green side are to earn promotion back to the Premier League, he will be a key figure at the back, and maybe even going forward.

He needs to be fit and firing almost every week, as he has proven to be too good for the second tier so far.
