Julen Lopetegui must trust Danny Ings to start for West Ham against Ipswich Town after the latest update on Niclas Fullkrug.

The German international looks set to miss the clash against the Tractor Boys on 5 October with his injury return taking "longer than expected" [ExWHUemployee].

It will be frustrating to the Spanish head coach that one of his key summer signings has failed to truly have an impact in the opening games of the campaign.

The former Borussia Dortmund star has featured for just 63 Premier League minutes this season and won't be back until the international break is over.

As a result, Lopetegui has to put his faith in Ings ahead of Michail Antonio as Ipswich are welcomed to the London Stadium.

The Englishman has had a tough time of things since joining the club, in a similar vein to Fullkrug, but could be handed the chance to impress against the newly promoted side.

Last time out, against Brentford, Antonio was trusted to start the clash and didn't really impress before being hooked on 75 minutes.

The Jamaica international grabbed an assist but it was his poor strike on goal that just happened to fall to Tomas Soucek that classed as that despite it being unintentional.

The ex-Nottingham Forest man has failed to score in the Premier League so far this campaign and at 34-year-old it could be time to pass the starting torch to Ings.

Against Fulham, the Hammers striker came on to score with an expert finish which ultimately saved a point for Lopetegui.

Despite this, the Spaniard hasn't trusted the former Aston Villa ace from the start in the league which may be an idea in an attempt to turn his side's form around.
