Konstantinos Mavropanos looks set to be offered a new contract by West Ham United.

The 28-year-old's current deal is set to run out in the summer of 2028, but he has been attracting interest from clubs in Serie A, the Bundesliga and La Liga.

The Hammers look to be reacting to that, with the intention to tie the defender down to a deal that would keep him at the London Stadium for the foreseeable future.

Ex-WHU Employee reported on 16 April, via the West Ham Way, that a new deal was in the offing for the Greek.

West Ham fans have completely changed their tune on Mavropanos, and they would be delighted if he were to stick around.

What was said about new West Ham deal for Mavropanos?

However, the latest report seems to suggest that a breakthrough has been reached, as surely they would not offer him a new deal if they were miles away on the finances.

The report states: “West Ham are readying a new deal for Mavropanos following his personally impressive season.

“The club feel he’s now stepping up into a more senior role within the squad under Nuno, and feel he deserves to be rewarded now as a higher profile player.”

Why Mavropanos contract makes sense for the Hammers

Mavropanos has matured into one of Nuno Espirito Santo's most crucial players, especially in the last few weeks, coming up with vital goals and blocks to help the relegation fight.

If he continues in his vein of form, he may well help the Irons to survival, and he would full deserve a new deal.

It would help the Hammers as they would keep one of their best players, and it would also stop any interest from foreign sides from developing into anything serious.

It would be a sign of intention from David Sullivan and the E20 club if they were to keep him around, rather than failing to reach a compromise on a potential new deal.

If they are relegated, then the 40-cap international's quality could be very important in helping to secure an immediate return to the top-flight, if he decides to stay in East London.

Whereas, if they remain in the top-tier at the end of the season, they can build around a core of him, Jarrod Bowen and Mateus Fernandes, if the latter also sticks around.
