West Ham fans urged to follow Sheffield Wednesday example to oust David Sullivan and Karren Brady

West Ham supporters must follow the example set by Sheffield Wednesday to change their ownership, Dan Plumley has said.

West Ham fans protested against David Sullivan and Karren Brady again before their 3-2 win over Burnley on 8 November

10,000 supporters protested before the London Stadium clash against the way that West Ham has been ran in recent years, with this summer’s dismal transfer window highlighting the issues.

Sullivan and Brady are seen as the primary reason why the club has declined from UEFA Europa Conference League winners to potential relegation contenders.

What West Ham fans must do next to oust David Sullivan and Co

Finance expert and Sheffield Wednesday supporter Plumley believes that the Hammers supporters need to organise bigger protests and that the numbers that turned up before the Burnley clash was not enough to force a change.

Speaking exclusively to West Ham Zone, he said: “Yeah, it is a decent-sized protest isn’t it, but my opinion on that would be it is also not enough, if you look at the average attendance and stuff like that, it is still a small proportion of that total.

“If you are going to continue protesting, ultimately, you are going to have to vote with more feet, we saw the Sheffield Wednesday example for the game with Middlesbrough before they went into administration.

“They were about three thousand or four thousand Wednesday fans in there, tops, and the average attendance is usually 23,000; that is a big protest, and when you start getting near empty grounds, it still might not make a difference, and it wasn’t the ultimate factor that worked for Wednesday, there was a lot of other stuff going on,” he said.

He added: “But it is a real show of force from the fans, and it reverberated around the country, so, if you are talking, is 10,000 enough? Probably not, it is going to have to be more and bigger protests if the fans are really vocal about changing ownership and even then it is not guaranteed.”

West Ham supporters need to follow Plumley’s advice

Irons supporters need to listen to Plumley, as he supports Wednesday, and knows exactly what is needed to get toxic owners out of a club.

The Championship outfit got Dejphon Chansiri out after years of financial mismanagement, and paid the price with a 12-point deduction, that makes relegation increasingly likely.

However, it was worth it, to make him leave, and Hammers fans need to force Sullivan and Brady out, for the good of the club.
