West Ham may have found the solution for their attacking woes with FC Midtjylland forward Franculino Dju.

The Guinea-Bissau international has scored 19 times this season, and the London Stadium outfit are desperate for goals.

A report from the Daily Mirror on 12 November claims that the Hammers had an informal approach rejected by the Danish side in the summer.

It states that the 21-year-old remains on West Ham's radar ahead of the winter transfer window, but they will face competition for his services.

How much could West Ham pay for Franculino?

Nuno Espirito Santo needs a goalscorer at West Ham, and Franculino would fit the bill for the Portuguese manager.

The report claims that Midtjylland are expected to demand a Danish record fee, which would eclipse what they received for winger Ernest Nuamah in 2023.

Nuamah moved to RWD Molenbeek for a package that was worth an initial £22million with an extra £4m in potential add-ons.

Can West Ham risk a move for Franculino?

The Irons need a prolific Premier League goalscorer, so a move for the young forward would be a risk for Nuno's side, as he does not have experience in the division.

The Danish league is nowhere near the level of the English top-flight, and he would likely take time to adjust, something which the E20 outfit cannot afford.

  • Franculino came through the Benfica youth academy
  • He has scored 52 and assisted 13 goals in 99 appearances for the Danish side
  • He has one goal in 14 appearances for the Guinea-Bissau national team

However, there is a dearth of top-quality options on the market, so they may have to take the gamble on Franculino and hope that he can produce straight away.

Given the position that they are in, sitting in the relegation zone, one point away from safety, it would represent a huge chance, if he was their main attacking addition.

He is one of the most promising striking talents in the European game, and it would be seen as a coup for the Hammers, but it may not be what they need right now.
