Pundit predicts outcome of West Ham United clash v Burnley as ‘no disrespect’ claim made

We’re delighted to welcome former West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the London Stadium…

Frank McAvennie has predicted West Ham United to defeat Burnley in their upcoming Premier League encounter.

The Hammers travel to Turf Moor to take on the Clarets on Saturday (25 November), in the first match back for both clubs after the latest international break.

Vincent Komany’s side currently sit rock bottom of the Premier League table with four points, with David Moyes’s men in ninth place on 17 points.

Speaking to West Ham Zone, McAvennie said: “We can’t get beat against Burnley. No disrespect to them. Good manager they’ve got, but we’ve got to go and beat them, it’s as simple as that, we’ve got to get three points.

“That’s the kind of teams we should be beating. It doesn’t matter about injuries, we should have players who can win these games. We should have players that can come in and do the job.

“It’s all about having a squad, and I don’t know if we’ve got a good enough squad like that. But Moyes will need to change things up if Antonio is not playing.

“We’ll soak up the ball and I think we’ll get a victory. That’s the way West Ham play, they’re so quick on the counter-attack now. I think we’ll do well. Burnley have been letting in goals all over the place.”

After their fine start to the Premier League campaign, the Hammers have been in poor form lately, winning just one of their last five games.

That did, however, come last time out against Nottingham Forest as they ended a run of three successive defeats after drawing with Newcastle United.

The Clarets meanwhile have won just one league game this season, with the three points coming against Luton Town at the beginning of October.
