Niclas Fullkrug injury update emerges ahead of West Ham United v Tottenham

West Ham striker Niclas Fullkrug may not be in contention to return from his injury lay-off against Tottenham on 19 October, according to Sean Whetstone.

The westhamfootball.co.uk founder claims that a Hammers source has stated anything could be possible with regard to the Germany international with an operation also a possibility.

However, there still is no clarity as to whether or not the 31-year-old is on the path to recovery from his calf injury.

Whetstone wrote on X: “Club sources are in dark over claims that Niclas Fullkrug needs an operation. The club source insisted they had heard nothing about any West Ham player requiring an operation but admitted anything was possible. The last medical update the club source was told is Fullkrug is expected to be on or near the bench for the away trip against Spurs.”

West Ham may conduct further scans before announcing an injury update on Niclas Fullkrug

Fullkrug’s return has hit a potential snag, as it seems possible there might have been a setback in his recovery from a calf injury.

Initially, there was optimism about him being close to returning, possibly even featuring against Tottenham.

However, recent information further adds to the uncertainty regarding his condition.

This ambiguity has led to speculation that the 31-year-old might require further medical evaluation, possibly involving scans, to assess the injury’s severity.

Doing this would help determine if surgery is necessary, casting doubt on his immediate availability.

The lack of clarity from the club on Fullkrug’s operation rumours underscores the fluid situation, with decisions on his treatment likely awaiting the results of these anticipated scans.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers want to sign a headline-making player who’s set to cost them £80million.
