David Moyes plans to apply for USA manager job amid West Ham United sack decision
We’re delighted to welcome former West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the London Stadium…
Frank McAvennie has been told that David Moyes is planning to apply for the manager’s job for the United States national team with his West Ham future in the air.
Moyes has been tipped to leave the London Stadium by some after being linked to the Celtic manager’s job after winning the Europa Conference League, while other reports claim he is set to stay on as boss for next season.
But while an official decision is yet to be shared by the club, McAvennie has heard a rumour that the boss could be planning his next move away from the London Staidum.

“It depends on what jobs are out there for him,” he told West Ham Zone.
“Someone told me he was planning to apply for the manager’s job for America. Whether that’s true or not I don’t know.
It seems unlikely that Moyes would go into international management with the United States, because that’s a very left-field option.
Maybe if he was unemployed or short of options then it could appeal to him as they have a developing squad with lots of top talent, and the next World Cup will be in their back yard.

But West Ham have just won a trophy and he has said he is open to staying and wants to stay for the final year of his contract, while Celtic are his other option and they’ve just won the treble domestically again.
He’d be far better off and more comfortable at those roles than taking over as manager of the USMNT you’d think.
If he was to move into international management you’d expect it to be for his own nation Scotland and nobody else, so this seems farfetched.
Weirder things have happened in football though.
