Fabrizio Romano claims that Even Ferguson is "expected" to depart Brighton on loan in the "next days" amid links to West Ham United.

Ever since the injury to Niclas Fullkrug, West Ham have been in dire need of a striker arrival and Republic of Ireland gem Ferguson certainly ticks plenty of boxes.

The Irons were said to hold the advantage in the race to sign him [Telegraph], and given the fresh update from Romano, it may only be a few days until the Hammers have got their man.

Several other clubs have expressed their interest in his services, but given his relationship with Graham Potter, West Ham may have the upper hand.

West Ham could land Ferguson signing in days

Whether Ferguson opts for a move to the London Stadium or not, the decision needs to be made soon with only a week remaining in the transfer window.

West Ham, with the possibility of a move falling through, need to keep on at other targets and simply cannot afford to hedge their bets on Ferguson joining the club.

However, if the Irons are able to conclude a deal, what a signing it would be. Given his experience in the Premier League and the boatload of attributes he can bring to the table, you would expect their attacking woes to curtail.

His physicality and ability to hold the ball up will allow more room for players like Lucas Paqueta and Mohammed Kudus to shine without having the immediate pressure of being the main goal threat.

All eyes will be on the remaining days of the window as Potter looks to enhance his squad.
