West Ham: George Earthy’s contract examined ahead of return from Bristol City
West Ham United allowed George Earthy to join Bristol City in January.
The 21-year-old spent last season on loan at Ashton Gate and put in a string of superb performances in the Championship.
There was an expectation that he would return to East London and play a role in the first team after his debut campaign in senior football.
Injuries derailed those hopes, and he was ultimately allowed to go back to the Robins on a temporary deal in the winter.
Earthy has just seen the season out at Bristol City, as we now assess what we know about his current deal at the London Stadium.

What is George Earthy’s contract situation at West Ham?
It felt as if both the ex-England Under-20 international and Freddie Potts were going to be key cogs in the machine in East London this season.
That hasn’t turned out to be the case, and in the end, Earthy made his move back to the Championship for the second season in a row.
| Season | Club | Appearances | Goal involvements |
| 2025/26 | Bristol City (loan) | 11 | 1 |
| 2025/26 | West Ham | 1 | 0 |
| 2024/25 | Bristol City (loan) | 40 | 4 |
| 2023/24 | West Ham | 4 | 1 |
Things certainly haven’t worked out this time around as he prepares for a London Stadium return now that the second-tier season is over.
His future looks secure in claret and blue, with his contract secure until the summer of 2027 after penning a three-year deal in 2023, with an option for a further year.
As part of that contract, he reportedly earns £7,500 per week, equating to a yearly salary of £390,000 at the London Stadium.
Earthy has had an up-and-down spell at Bristol City, with a decision now to be made about his future.
Could Earthy return to Bristol City permanently?
It feels as if the Englishman is in need of another full season on loan away from E20 to truly cement himself in the senior game.
That may prove to be possible with the Irons, but probably only if they are to get relegated to the Championship.
If they remain in the Premier League, opportunities are going to be at a premium for young talent, with Earthy likely to struggle as much as anyone else.

That could see the midfielder return to Ashton Gate with the hope of recreating the form he showed in his first campaign with the Robins.
A permanent deal may prove to be worthwhile for all parties, although it all depends on the Hammers’ division status.
