Lukasz Fabianski’s best West Ham moments as London Stadium contract runs down

Lukasz Fabianski looks set to leave West Ham United this summer.

The Polish goalkeeper had initially departed at the end of last season, but he was brought back on a short-term deal after a Wes Fodringham injury.

A report from The Athletic earlier this month claimed that he has yet to hold talks over a potential new contract with the club, with his deal running down.

However, it states that he could remain in a different capacity, perhaps coaching with the London Stadium side.

Here, West Ham Zone looks at the top five moments of Fabianski’s career at West Ham.

5.) Fabianski’s Europa League exploits in 2023/24

West Ham’s Europa League campaign in 2023/24 came to an end at the hands of Bayer Leverkusen.

However, it was not in any way due to Fabianski, as he pulled off a remarkable nine saves in the 2-0 first leg loss.

He could not prevent Jonas Hofmann and Victor Boniface from giving the hosts an advantage which the Irons could not overturn.

4.) Winning Hammer of the Year award

Fabianski’s debut season at West Ham was brilliant, as he ended up picking up the Hammer of the Year award for the 2018-19 season.

No Premier League goalkeeper made more saves than Fabianski’s 148 and he was rightfully rewarded by his new club.

He also won the Save of the Season and Signing of the Season gongs after a fantastic first campaign in East London.

3.) Fabianski sets milestone at West Ham

The goalkeeper became the first Polish player to make 300 appearances in the English top-flight in January 2022.

He marked the occasion against Norwich City, keeping a clean sheet as the Hammers won 2-0 against the bottom club.

The Irons stopper made three saves in the contest.

2.) Incredible penalty saving record in 2021-22 campaign

He had an incredible penalty-saving record in the 2021-22 season, saving a total of three out of the five that he faced.

He saved them from Arsenal’s Alexandre Lacazette and Chelsea’s Jorginho, but the most notable was from Manchester City’s Riyad Mahrez in a 2-2 draw at the London Stadium.

Only, Leicester’s Youri Tielemans and Southampton’s James Ward-Prowse managed to beat him from the spot that season.

1.) West Ham win Europa Conference League

His best moment with the Hammers may well have come when he was not on the pitch.

The Irons won the 2023 UEFA Europa Conference League, their first trophy in 43 years, but Fabianski was on the bench.

Alphonse Areola was between the sticks for the game, but it was a huge moment for all involved with the E20 outfit.
