Callum Wilson new contract: Everything West Ham fans need to know as agreement reached

Callum Wilson looks set to extend his stay at West Ham.

Wilson was on the verge of a West Ham exit in the winter transfer market, and was understood to have been close to an agreement to leave.

The likes of Everton and Leeds United were interested in the London Stadium forward, but nothing materialised and he stayed put.

Now, he is set to earn a new contract, in a remarkable turnaround to his career with the East London club, and it is fully deserved as the Sofascore graphic below highlights.

Has Wilson signed a new deal at West Ham?

Wilson is on the verge of fresh terms with the Irons, which is stunning as he was virtually out of the door at one point after falling out of favour with Nuno Espirito Santo.

He has not signed a new contract yet, but there is a verbal agreement in place with the Hammers, according to The Telegraph.

The report on 8 March states that an agreement in principle has been reached to take the former Newcastle man’s deal past the summer, when it was set to expire.

How long is the new deal for Wilson?

The new agreement is set to be for one year, which would take his contract expiry date to 30 June 2027, rather than this summer.

It shows how much he has turned around his form in E20, as Nuno clearly now trusts him enough to hand out a new deal.

It makes sense as he has proven he can still score at Premier League level, but his goals could be even more crucial if the Hammers are relegated to the Championship.

What does Wilson earn at West Ham?

Wilson is understood to earn around £50,000-per-week with the Irons, which equals a yearly salary of around £2.4million.

However, reports have claimed that 90 per cent of his wage packet was under a pay-as-you-play agreement.

It is unknown whether a new deal would increase his wage or be at the same level as he is currently earning.

How has Wilson performed so far for the Hammers?

Wilson has made 26 appearances for the club so far, being in and out of the team under the leadership of Nuno.

He has notched five goals and one assist in 1,109 minutes of football, which is not a bad return by any means for a 34-year-old.
