Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s downfall could actually be West Ham’s gain

Aaron Wan-Bissaka, like many of his West Ham United teammates, has not had a season to remember.

And because of that, there is a high likelihood that the Hammers are just hours away from having their relegation made official.

If Tottenham beat Chelsea, then the battle against the drop comes to an end, and if they were to draw, quite frankly, it would be the same scenario, given the goal difference.

It’s more a case of when as opposed to if for West Ham, who will have to get plans in place quickly ahead of the summer window.

Wan-Bissaka has had a poor season with the Irons, which may actually benefit them in the weeks to come.

West Ham could retain Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Even just 12 months ago, the thought of Wan-Bissaka even entertaining the idea of playing Championship football would be ludicrous, and to some extent, it still may be.

If West Ham are to be relegated, there may still be a handful of teams willing to take a chance on him, though his options will be limited based on his lack of form this season.

And that could actually see him stay at the London Stadium, at least for a season, which would immediately have one position locked down.

As poor as he has been in the Premier League, Wan-Bissaka would be a cheat code in the Championship, depending on the scenario.

Youth must not be ignored at West Ham

The Hammers have a handful of promising youth prospects, many of whom have not had the chance to showcase their worth this season.

Relegation could change that, and it would give the Irons very few excuses not to utilise them, and potentially to good effect.

There will be a lot of big decisions to make this summer if they are relegated in the next week, and it will be imperative that they get them right.
