Troy Deeney loves Taty Castellanos turnaround at West Ham United, he’s found his home

Troy Deeney loves what he’s seen from Taty Castellanos at West Ham United.

The Argentine sealed a January switch to the London Stadium from Lazio and has gone on to have an up-and-down spell in claret and blue.

There have been some reservations about his performances, but he has certainly been playing a key role in the recent boost under Nuno Espirito Santo.

Avoiding relegation from the Premier League now looks like a real possibility, and the 4-0 win against Wolves has helped that ambition come into frame.

Castellanos netted two for West Ham against the Old Gold and certainly caught the attention of Deeney in the process.

Troy Deeney loved Taty Castellanos goals vs Wolves

The Hammers were in desperate need of three points against the West Midlands outfit in their effort to avoid a drop into the Championship.

A 4-0 win was massive at the London Stadium as Castellanos put in arguably his best performance in claret and blue.

The January signing bagged a brace and has helped the Irons to sit two points clear of Tottenham, who have now dropped into the bottom three.

Those strikes represented his fourth and fifth since moving to East London, as he looks to repay the faith his £26million fee came with.

He certainly did that against Wolves as Deeney picked the Argentine in his BBC Sport Team of the Week on Tuesday.

Discussing the forward’s performance, he said: “He had a very poor Serie A season, but now he has found a home that fits. Both his goals were scrappy, but who cares? Two goals for a striker in a massive game – the biggest game of the season for West Ham.”

Castellanos can now kick on after his Wolves heroics as he begins to pick up plaudits for his performances in claret and blue.

Konstantinos Mavropanos makes Deeney Team of the Week after West Ham win

If the former Watford man liked what he saw from the January signing, he loved what Konstantinos Mavropanos did in E20.

The Greece international has been simply superb in recent weeks, and his two goals against Wolves were massive.

He has caught the eye of the wider Premier League audience for his performances, and that only took a step up against Wolves.

Deeney named him in his Team of the Week and said: “A huge performance when West Ham needed it. It was the biggest game of their season, and Mavropanos had a dominating performance in defence while also producing two goals. He made some big tackles and big headers. It was a wonderful display.”

Both Castellanos and Mavropanos made all the difference against Wolves and could have a telling say on whether the Irons are relegated this season.
