Crysencio Summerville pays tribute to West Ham fans in rallying cry message – ‘comeback starts now’

Crysencio Summerville has described West Ham United as being “too special” to stay down, after the Hammers were relegated to the Championship.

West Ham don’t have the time to sit around feeling sorry for themselves; football, and indeed the Championship, is unforgiving to those that do.

The summer transfer window is just around the corner, decisions need to be made on players, whilst any inquest into how things went so wrong in 2025-26 needs to produce its findings ASAP.

One decision has already been made with Nuno Espirito Santo staying on as Irons boss, and that does at least provide security going into the summer knowing who is going to be in the dugout for the start of next season.

West Ham’s relegation to the Championship marked a clear failure of a campaign though, and it’s going to take a big effort to get the football club back to where it belongs in 2026-27.

What did Crysencio Summerville say on West Ham’s season?

One of the big aspects of suffering relegation is for club decision-makers to sort out which players are/want to stick around, and who doesn’t/needs to leave for financial reasons.

Scoring five goals and providing two assists in 31 Premier League games last season, Summerville was one of West Ham’s best players, and he does have experience of playing in England’s second tier.

Summerville has been linked with a summer exit, with Premier League and European interest mooted for the Dutchman.

However, his latest Instagram post reflecting on West Ham’s 2025-26 season suggests that he may not be going anywhere after all, as the 24-year-old spoke on the “comeback” starting right away.

“It’s difficult to find the right words for the disappointment we all share,” Summerville said.

“It feels like we’ve let ourselves down, but even more importantly, all of you from the Irons family who stood by us throughout this difficult season.

“One thing I do know how to express is my sincere appreciation for your unbelievable support. In the hardest moments of the season, your support gave us hope again, pushed us to fight harder, and made us believe until the very end.

“Maybe that’s also why this hurts even more, because we came so close, it makes it even harder to accept.

“Through every setback and every difficult moment, you stayed with us and kept us going, Your support never went unnoticed.

“West Ham United is too big, too special, and too powerful to stay down. The comeback starts now.”

How likely is it Summerville leaves West Ham this summer?

Naturally, a sizeable clear-out of the playing squad needs to take place this summer, whilst funds also need to be raised through sales.

It’s being widely reported that West Ham are looking to generate around £150million through player exits this summer, and Summerville is certainly one of their more saleable assets.

However, there is talk of Mateus Fernandes potentially fetching around £80m, whilst Jarrod Bowen would surely command at least £40-50m respectively.

As such, the Hammers could go a very long way to raising that amount just through those two, and then could make the additional £20-30m or so through without selling Summerville.

It might not be a given at all that Summerville leaves the London Stadium this summer, and judging from his words on Instagram, he sounds hungry to right the wrongs of last season too.
