West Ham Women confirm Seraina Piubel signing in seventh new transfer

West Ham United Women have confirmed Switzerland midfielder Seraina Piubel as their seventh new signing ahead of the Women’s Super League season.

The Hammers announced Piubel’s arrival with a post on X (9 September), with the 24-year-old arriving on a three-year-deal from Swiss side FC Zurich, who won the Swiss Women’s Super League last season.

West Ham Women begin their WSL campaign away at Manchester United on 21 September, with head coach Rehanne Skinner hoping to get off to a winning start after rebuilding her squad this summer.

Speaking to the Irons’ club website via West Ham TV, Piubel said: “I have a good vision of the game and I am a dynamic player. The fans can expect to see commitment, passion and a player that gives everything to the team.”

West Ham Women must get off to strong start in WSL

Having released six of their longest-serving players on 30 June, including goalkeeper and captain Mackenzie Arnold, Skinner’s side have had a summer jam-packed with change at Victoria Road.

New arrivals from across Europe and beyond have come thick and fast in place of the departed players, with Piubel the latest signing of several up-and-coming internationals in East London.

Unlike French under-23 left-back Ines Belloumou, who was signed from Bayern Munich and immediately loaned out to Lazio [25 July], Piubel will be expected to slot straight into a new-look Irons side on 21 September.

Shelina Zadorsky, who made her loan move from Tottenham permanent this summer, will at least provide some continuity amid Skinner’s rebuilt squad, with Piubel set to play further forward.

The 24-year-old midfielder might not be able to do all the jobs of Mel Filis, Honoka Hayashi and Emma Snerle combined, but she’ll certainly be keen to hit the ground running against Manchester United.
