West Ham United Women make triple Professional Game Academy announcement

West Ham United Women have confirmed that a trio of former Arsenal players have joined the Irons as part of the Professional Game Academy programme.

The Irons confirmed on their website on Tuesday (17 September) that Ruby Doe, Daniella Way and Marnie Morrison have made the move to East London having left the Gunners.

Morrison, Way and Doe will join Macey Nicholls and Ellie Moore to make up the five members of the Hammers’ PGA programme which allows young players to continue their professional development alongside their education.

All five teenagers will be allowed to train with Rehanne Skinner’s side day in and day out, while also being able to feature in Women’s Super League squads throughout the season.

Who have West Ham United Women signed?

While this announcement is unlikely to have an immediate impact on the Hammers’ squad this season, it is an excellent step not only for the trio of young players but also for West Ham as they plan for the future.

In this former Arsenal trio, Skinner’s side has managed to secure three highly rates teenage prospects and offer them another shot at making it in the professional game having left the Emirates Stadium.

There is a good chance that one of Morrison, Way or Doe could exit East London again on duel- registration. Nicholls has returned to Hashtag United this season having impressed on a temporary basis with them last term.

Although this is far from the biggest transfer news to come out of West Ham this summer, this feels like a gamble well worth taking for the Hammers now that the transfer window has closed.

Who knows, they may have managed to secure a future star on a relatively cheap deal.
