West Ham fans go wild for Saturday contract announcement
There are few clubs in English football as proud of their tradition of developing first class young talent as West Ham United.
There’s a reason for that, of course. From Rio Ferdinand to Michael Carrick through to current first team star Declan Rice, the Hammers have produced a laundry list of stars over the years.
Fans of the east London club have been hoping for a while now that young midfielder Conor Coventry may prove to be the next through the ranks at the London Stadium.
However, his future has been very much uncertain recently, with his contract set to expire at the end of the season.
But good news arrived for the West Ham faithful on Saturday as the club announced on its official Twitter account that the 19-year-old had signed a new deal to keep him where he is until 2023.
The youngster has played just twice for the senior team, including earlier this campaign against Newport County, but he has made 13 appearances for the Under-23s this term.
Here are the best reactions from the West Ham fans to the news…
